Project Management

Planning, Execution, and Project Management for Enterprise Systems, Infrastructure & Integration, and Communications Projects

The University IT Project Management Office (UIT PMO) within Service Strategy is a highly effective team of IT Project Managers who manage and lead a diverse range of technology projects. The team uses consistent project management processes, methodologies (agile and waterfall), and utilizes project and portfolio management tools. Our PM’s are responsible for overseeing the entire project management lifecycle, encompassing initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and Closure.

The team primarily manages UIT’s active technology project portfolio, and provides professional IT project management services for Business Affairs Initiatives, Systems Governance Group Projects, UIT Projects, and Health Care related Projects. The PMO team utilizes the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) process to lead project intake/demand, manage staff project capacity/allocation, and support UIT’s PPM governance group in prioritizing and overseeing client and UIT projects. Our core focus revolves around optimizing human and financial resources, minimizing technical debts, and supporting other University and, Business Affairs priorities. Through Service Portfolio Management and Project Portfolio Management, the team provides visibility and transparency, providing insights into the current and future states of UIT products and services.

Additionally, the UIT PMO team extends its IT Project management Services to other business units, encompassing project types such as vendor selection and implementation, SaaS projects, development and IT infrastructure projects, and application upgrades. This service is available to all Business Units across Stanford. To learn more about the service, please see the IT Project Management Service Page and request an IT Project Manager for your next IT Project.
